Educational Visit at Machchu-II Dam

  18 Jun 2026

The Department of Civil Engineering, Darshan Institute of Engineering & Technology, organized an educational visit to Machchu-II Dam to provide students with practical exposure to hydraulic engineering and water resource management. Designed as a field-based learning experience for Civil Engineering students, the visit enabled participants to observe the dam’s hydrological features, structural components, and operational mechanisms beyond the classroom environment. Experts at the site explained key engineering aspects, including spillway gate operations, power systems, maintenance practices, safety measures, and the significance of dam performance and failure analysis. Students also witnessed ongoing grouting work, gaining valuable insights into its methodology and role in enhancing structural integrity and extending the service life of hydraulic structures. The visit successfully bridged theoretical concepts with real-world engineering applications, strengthening students’ understanding of dam engineering, hydraulic structures, and infrastructure maintenance while fostering technical competence and experiential learning essential for their professional development.
