National Service Scheme (NSS)

National Service Scheme (NSS) was introduced in 1969 with the primary objective of developing the personality and character of the student youth through voluntary community service. ‘Education through Service’ is the purpose of the NSS. The ideological orientation of the NSS is inspired by the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. Very appropriately, the motto of NSS is “NOT ME, BUT YOU”. An NSS volunteer places the ‘community’ before ‘self’.

NSS Programme Coordinator

Mr. Prashant Bakotiya is an experienced educator with a strong passion for mathematics, teaching, research, and student development. As an Assistant Professor in the Department of Humanities & Science at Darshan University, he is committed to making mathematical concepts accessible, meaningful, and engaging through practical examples and student-centered teaching methodologies.

His academic interests include graph theory, graph domination and its variants, domination polynomials, and related areas of discrete mathematics. His research focuses on exploring theoretical mathematical concepts and their potential applications in network analysis.

Beyond teaching and research, he actively contributes to student development through academic activities, mentoring, and institutional initiatives. His involvement in the National Service Scheme (NSS) reflects his commitment to fostering leadership, discipline, teamwork, and social responsibility among students.

Mr. Bakotiya believes that education extends beyond textbooks and examinations. Through his dedication to teaching, research, and mentorship, he strives to inspire students to think critically, develop confidence, and pursue academic excellence.

A Fusion of Creative Arts, Legal Acumen, and National Service Mr. Pankaj J. Dave is a seasoned cultural mentor and disciplinarian with over 26 years of extensive experience in Dance and Drama. A visionary in the performing arts, he has directed numerous plays and cultural events, fostering stage presence, creativity, and confidence in the youth. His artistic expertise is matched only by his academic rigor, holding degrees in Commerce (B.Com), Law (LL.B), and Physical Education (P.B.Ed).

At Darshan University, Mr. Dave brings a powerful legacy of uniformed service and nation-building. His leadership portfolio is vast and multifaceted: NCC Caretaker Officer (CTO): 2 Years of guiding cadets in unity and discipline. NSS Officer: 2 Years of leading community service initiatives. Indian Red Cross Society: 3 Years as Co-ordinator, driving health and humanitarian aid.

Scouts & Guides: 5 Years of mentorship in youth development. Police Mitra: 1 Year of service supporting law enforcement and public safety. Beyond his administrative and artistic roles, Mr. Dave is a certified Pranic Healer, dedicated to the mental and spiritual well-being of the campus community. Mr. Dave’s holistic approach—combining the discipline of a legal mind, the service spirit of a uniformed officer, and the creative soul of an artist—continues to inspire and empower students, shaping them into well-rounded, responsible citizens.

Registration Process

Registration is open for new entrants typically in Month of August/September every year.
Announcement of the same is made on University Notice board & University Website.
Students of 1^st Semester are eligible for enrollment.
Selection of Volunteers is on basis of first come first serve.
