Field Visit to 400 kV Electrical Substation, Hadala for Practical Exposure

The Department of Diploma Electrical Engineering at Darshan University recently organized an industrial visit to the GETCO 400 kV substation in Hadala, Gujarat, providing students with critical practical exposure to high-voltage power transmission systems. This initiative bridged the gap between theoretical classroom learning and real-world industrial applications by offering firsthand insights into the operation, maintenance, and safety protocols essential for managing substation equipment. Guided by field experts, students examined vital infrastructure, including power transformers, conductors, circuit breakers, and isolators, while also exploring the function of control panels and DC battery systems. This immersive experience significantly enhanced the participants' understanding of complex electrical networks, relay monitoring, and SCADA systems. Ultimately, the visit served as a valuable pedagogical opportunity, equipping future engineers with a nuanced perspective on the operational efficiency, safety standards, and real-time demands of the modern power industry.
