Workshop on "Soil Investigation Using Standard Penetration Test"

The Department of Civil Engineering (DIET) organized a specialized “Workshop on Soil Investigation Using Standard Penetration Test (SPT)” to enhance the practical understanding of geotechnical engineering among seventh-semester students. The workshop bridged theoretical concepts with field application by offering live demonstrations of the SPT method used to assess soil resistance, stratification, and bearing capacity through N-value interpretation. Students gained hands-on exposure to testing equipment, standard procedures, and safety practices essential for site investigation and foundation design. The initiative effectively strengthened technical competence and prepared students to perform reliable soil investigations in professional engineering practice.
