Field Visit to Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium

The Department of Civil Engineering (DIET) organized a field visit to the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium to familiarize students with modern structural systems used in large-scale infrastructure. The visit enabled B.Tech Civil Engineering students to closely observe key engineering features such as cantilever seating systems and specialized long-span roofing materials. Students also learned about the importance of expansion joints in mega-structures and advanced ground de-watering techniques required for maintaining international-standard sports facilities. In addition, operational spaces like the broadcasting room and commentary box were explored, highlighting the integration of structural design with functional requirements. Overall, the visit effectively connected theoretical knowledge with real-world applications, offering valuable exposure to the design and maintenance challenges of major public infrastructure projects.
