International Day of Yoga (IDY) is celebrated worldwide every year on 21 June to promote the importance of yoga for physical health, mental balance, and holistic wellbeing. Since its inception, the celebration has grown into a global movement that encourages individuals and
communities to adopt yoga as a healthy and balanced lifestyle. To create awareness and build momentum leading up to this global event, the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, along with Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), has initiated a nationwide campaign known as the “100 Days Countdown to International Day of Yoga.” Through this initiative, universities, educational institutions, yoga organizations, and community groups across the country organize various yoga-related activities and awareness programs during the 100 days leading up to 21 June. As part of this national campaign, Darshan University, Rajkot will organize a 100 Days Countdown Celebration Event on Saturday, 21 March 2026. This program marks an important milestone in the journey toward International Day of Yoga 2026 and aims to promote the knowledge, practice, and cultural significance of yoga among students and the wider community.

The celebration at Darshan University will feature several engaging activities designed to promote both the theoretical understanding and practical experience of yoga.

Yoga Nrutyam – Yogic Group Dance Competition

The Yoga Nrutyam (Yogic Dance Competition) will showcase the creative integration of yoga and performing arts. Participants will present choreographed performances combining yogasanas, mudras, rhythmic movements, and expressive storytelling based on yogic themes. This event encourages creativity while highlighting the beauty and philosophy of yoga. Group performances will bring together movement, music, and yogic expression.

Group: Minimum 02 to Maximum 07 people
Performance Timing: 03 – 05 Mins.
Group Prize: 1 st – Rs. 5,000/- 2 nd – Rs. 3,000/- 3 rd – Rs. 2,000/-

Yogic Prasna Pratiyogita – Yogic Quiz

The Yogic Quiz Competition aims to enhance students’ knowledge of yoga and its philosophical
foundations. The quiz will include questions related to yoga philosophy, classical yogic texts, the
history and evolution of yoga, and the scientific understanding of yogic practices. Participation
in this competition will be through educational institutions, encouraging academic engagement
with yogic knowledge.

Shrimad Bhagavad Gita Shloka Mukhapatha (Recitation)

A Shrimad Bhagavad Gita Shloka Recitation Program will be conducted to promote India’s spiritual and philosophical heritage. Students will recite selected verses from the Bhagavad Gita with proper pronunciation, rhythm, and expression. This activity will help participants connect with the timeless teachings of the Gita and understand its message of wisdom, duty, and inner balance.

Kids Surya Namaskar Competition (Std. 6 to 9)

To encourage yoga among younger generations, a Surya Namaskar Competition for school students of Std. 6 to 9 will be organized. This event will introduce children to the powerful practice of Surya Namaskar, helping them develop flexibility, strength, discipline, and focus. The activity aims to inspire school students to adopt healthy habits through yoga from an early age.

Yogic Shuddhi Kriya Demonstration

A special Yogic Shuddhi Kriya Demonstration will be conducted by students of Darshan University. This session will present traditional yogic cleansing practices described in classical yoga texts. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn and practice Jal NetiKriya, a well- known yogic nasal cleansing technique beneficial for respiratory health and overall wellbeing.

Yoga Protocol Practice

The event will also include a Guided Yoga Practice Session based on the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) recommended for International Day of Yoga. This session will include yogasanas, pranayama practices, and relaxation techniques designed to promote physical fitness, mental clarity, and overall wellbeing among participants.
