Objective behind organizing project exhibition is to give platform to final year students to showcase their creativity and hard work they have put in past one year in terms of their final year project work. Further, interaction of junior with their senior colleagues will give then exposure to various possible areas and help them to identify their area of interest and where they can take up projects. Students were advised to prepare poster, presentations or similar documents that can help them to better explain their projects. Exhibition was compulsory to attend for students of4 th and 6th semesters of the department. Each student attending the exhibition was required to submit a feedback report in the prescribed format. Exhibition was also kept open for other students of the institute. Principal, Heads and staff members.

One Day Workshop on "App of Cap" for B.E. Students

Department of Electrical Engineering at Darshan Institute of Engineering & Technology, Rajkot had organized one day workshop “App of Cap” for B.E.(Electrical, Power Electronics, Instrumentation & Control, Electronics, Electrical & Electronics Engineering ) all semesters students on February 12, 2018, Monday, 9:00 AM to 1:50 PM. Objective of the workshop was to explore the day to day applications of capacitors of similar fundamentals working principles. Real time demonstrations of various types of capacitors, super capacitors, timing circuits, smoothing circuits, filter circuits, energy storage circuits, measurement circuits, tuning circuits, high voltage circuits etc. will be carried out.

In the presence of Mr. Pragnesh Raiyani – CEO of Redren Energy Pvt. Ltd. department of electrical engineer has distributed the induction kits to all the participants of the Solar PV Installer training program running under PMKVY. Mr. Pragnesh motivated students by exploring the field of solar energy and opportunities they will have after successfully completion of the training. He has briefed about the processes involved in solar company and the role of a candidate in the solar field. In overall students got idea about the future of the solar energy field and their responsibilities to serve the society after getting the training.

One Day Workshop on "Moving with Motors" for B.E. Students

Real time demonstrations of 1-phase Induction Motor, 3-phase Induction Motor, Stepper Motor, Servo Motor, Brushless DC Motor (BLDC) and Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) used for Water Pump, Blower, Fan, Air conditioner, Refrigerator, Portable Drill Machine, Rod Cutter, Concrete Mixer, Lawn cutter, Quad-copter, Robotic Arm, 360 Controlled Camera, 2-Axis CNC Control, Paper Cutting Machine and 3D Printer, E-Cycle, BLDC submersible pump, BLDC pump. Apart from this, students visited 50kWp rooftop solar power plant installed at institute campus. They had also been demonstrated the Energy Conservation Van - a project given by GEDA (Gujarat Energy Development Agency) to the department of Electrical Engineering.

Department of Electrical engineering had bidden adieu to the candidates of Solar PV Installer (Suryamitra) Skill Development course. The trainees were provided training on designing, installation & maintenance of solar power plant for 360 hours total. The chairman of the institute, Dr. R. G Dhamsaniaya wished them best luck for the future. Candidates also interacted with the principal of diploma studies Prof. M. V. Sanghani. Students gave the feedbacks about the course and training they were provided. Head of the Electrical Engineering Department Prof. Kuman R. Sidhhapura and Prof. M. V. Sanghani also wished them to achieve more success in the career.

Hands-on Session on “Power & Control wiring using Contactors”

Department of Electrical Engineering had conducted Hands-on Session on “Power & Control Wiring using Contactors” for 5th Semester students. Students learnt the line diagram at first and then after practical implementation had been carried out. Students got opportunities to understand the line diagram concepts and need of the diagram to connect the circuit diagram. Students also studied the importance of starter to start a motor. They were explained necessity of contactor in circuit diagram and functions provided by it.

Department of Electrical Engineering & Fuji Electric India Private Ltd. had jointly organized a state level One day workshop on "Technological Evolution in Motor Control and Latest Trends in Energy Efficiency Enhancement" on March 25, 2017 Objective of the workshop is to give Basic introduction to A.C drives and its applications in various industrial segments including latest technological developments. Total no. of participants was 120. The workshop also covered Demonstrations of VFDs, Servo Motors, Drives, PLC, HMI, Temperature Controllers Ultrasonic Flow meter

It was a gentle attempt of Electrical Department for student to let them understand and think about, how one simple fundamental principle can create diversified application. Workshop "Moving with Motors" got the overwhelming response with 115 particpants from the various engineering institutes of Gujarat. Zonal Level One Day Workshop on Fun with Faraday's

Department of Electrical Engineering had successfully conducted A Zonal Level One Day Workshop on "Fun with Faraday's". The event got overwhelming response with 180+ online registrations and 25+ offline registrations. The students from various engineering institutes of entire Rajkot zone actively attended the workshop with a lot of fun. Students had seen the working demonstrations of projects based on Faraday's Law, Lorentz Force Law, Lenz's Law and many more electrical engineering concepts. Students had successfully implemented the projects during Hands on Session. Participants visited the rooftop solar power plant, constructed & run by department at the campus. Students also learned energy efficient devices used in home appliances while visiting Urja Mitra – Home Van.

Department of Electrical Engineering provided an opportunity to participants to gain in depth knowledge of Energy Trends and Power Quality from the various eminent experts. Objectives of the Technical workshop were to spread the awareness about Recent Trends in Energy and Power Quality, to make participants aware about the challenges of Energy Sector with development of nation, to show how to use different instruments related to power quality audit like Power analyzer, Digital Signal Oscilloscope etc., to make participants understand the concept of power quality and related issues and to make them understand power quality norms and its mitigations.

Department of Electrical Engineering has celebrated “Energy Conservation Day” which was jointly organized by the Institution of Engineers (India), Saurashtra Local Center- Rajkot and Darshan Institute of Engineering & Technology on December 14, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. The celebration was followed by inauguration of Urja Mitra Home - Mobile Energy Conservation Demonstration Van developed by Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA), Government of Gujarat, with the objective of increasing the outreach of Enery Conservation promotional programs and activities.

Hands-on Practices

The session was divided into four various activities. In the first activity, Prof. B. D. Kanani provided guidance about different types of Multimeters that department acquires. Second activity was carried out by Prof. H. K. Lakhani. He has taught how to test the various electrical & electronics components using multimeter. He has also explained how to operate DSO. Prof. P. V. Rupala & Prof. K. K. Rathod described and guided the students to construct the various circuits on breadboard. P. C. Gohel taught the students about different types of cables used in industries.

Participants got the industrial exposures by visiting industries like Casting Unit, Ceramic Manufacturing Unit & Renewable Power Generation Company.
